About Us

Mission Measurement (MM) is the leader in outcomes-based measurement. We advise governments, companies, and foundations around the world to measure, report, and improve the results of social impact investments/grantmaking. Our approach is based on the principle that social outcomes can be standardized, defined, and measured consistently. While program strategies can differ widely, the goals (i.e., outcomes) are typically universal – things like housing, hunger, healthcare, education, and economic mobility. As a result, measurement does not have to be reinvented for every grant or program. By using evidence-based outcomes, common measures can be used to compare grants, aggregate their results, and identify high-performers. This approach lowers the burden on the grantees, lowers the cost of evaluation, and increases the quality of the data that is reported.

To help realize this goal of standardizing impact reporting, MM pioneered the development of the Impact Genome Project(“IGP”); a universal impact standard for evaluating social programs that includes a taxonomy of social outcomes and core components (i.e., program strategies). MM helps clients align their programs/grants and reporting to these evidence based outcomes and core components. This enables organizations to aggregate their impact, benchmark their results (against the sector or within their portfolio), and understand how to grow their impact going forward. By breaking down social programs to their outcomes and core components, we help to unlock the data organizations need to tell their story and innovate.
